    True, but Israel never said that Iran will be taken off of the map, as Iran has said about Israel. Nevertheless, Israel's missile system, is many times more advanced than Iran's. It's nuclear program is 50 years ahead of Iran and Israel has cruise missles which Iran doesn't. Even if Israel did go after Iran's nuclear infrastructure, any retaliation against Israel by way of missiles fired at Tel Aviv would be stupid on Iran's part considering Israel's atomic and missile superiority. One missile at Tel Aviv and most of Iran could be reduced to a wasteland. And they know it.

        I cannot fathom how this can be built up to such a big deal.

        Since this morning - updates 3 times an hour on the same

        story. EVERYBODY has missles - they weren't nukes, for

        crying out loud. This is like, Big Whup. If Iran had trials

        of a new slingshot.......would THAT be enough for the

        Bush/Cheney administration to cobble together a "slam-dunk"

        reason for attack? North Korea shot one over Japan - or

        close to it,didn't they....and they are NUCLEAR. A couple of

        years ago India and Pakistan were having a nuclear

        "can-you-top-this" contest with their nuclear tests - it was

        a very dicey time. This seems rather tame compared to those

        examples. I am not sweet on Ahmadinejad - but why can't Iran

        show off their military capabilities to defend themselves in

        a hair-trigger atmosphere. We do weapons tests - everybody

        does - what's the diff? Besides rhetoric, that is........

      Sure it has. Various government officials at various levels have called for the destruction of Iran at different times, saying they should wipe it off the map. They've also compared Iranians to animals, taking a hint from Hitler's strategies.

      Absolutely. Which is why Iran is sabre-rattling and doesn't represent a threat. Israel's always been the biggest threat in the middle east and has numerous invasions, bombing runs and sabre-rattling examples to pull from.

        Hmmm I see your true anti-Semitic colors are showing. Israel only has attacked when attacked or provoked, like when they went into Lebanon when its gov't couldn't stop terrorist from lobbing rockets into Israeli neighborhoods.

        The Iranian nutjob president many times has said he will make Israel disappear from the map. Why? Because Israel has the audacity to exist. Seems you are in perfect agreement with the nut running Iran.

        Posting an unattributed quote saying Israel will retaliate if one nuke is launched at it hardly condemns the Israeli gov't. Given Israel is a very small nation with less land area than nearly any U.S. state, one nuke is all it would take to wipe out much of it.

            Actually I don't like the actual Irani government but I agree with Baddad. And while Iran does sponsor some destabilizating forces in other counrtries, many other conturies do the same (US and Israel included).

          Yep, Israel is a one-nuke-state. and if israel continues with its ethnic cleansing and repeated attacks on neighbors, chances are pretty good that the end result of zionism will be the suicide of about 45% of the world's jews.

          The only way that israelis will be able to survive in the mideast is to get the Palestinians on their side by reversing the century of zionist crimes against humanity.

      civilian nuclear program?.......that doesn't sound very

      sporting.

      Well, unless you - Edmar14 - know something that the N.I.E.

      AND the I.A.E.A. don't know?

      But good for us to have friends so powerful and moral.

      We would feel somehow satisfied if they attack

      another nation with the knowledge that IF their victim were

      to try to fight back they could obliterate them?

        Unless human beings have changed in the last 30 days, they react pretty much the same way that they have for the last 10,000 years and longer. If Israel did go after Iran's nuclear program, Iran would, in their words, turn Tel Aviv into burning cinders. That would definitely illicit a response from Israel that wouldn't be small by any meaning of the word. There is no doubt that Hezbollah would open a northern front against Israel. Israel's only option would be to hit back hard. I don't know anything that the N.I.E. or any other agency knows, but the reality is pretty close to what I have just stated. Faced with incoming missiles from Iran and thousands of rockets from Lebanon, what do you think Israel would do? The US and England leveled every inch of Dresden during WWII mostly in response to the V1 and V2 bombings of London by the Nazis. Don't think that Teheran and Beirut aren't within Israel's gunsights the same as Tel Aviv and Haifa are in Iran and Hezbolla's sites.

          In both cases, Israel does have the military and technological ability to level all of Iran and Lebanon should it get that far out of hand. Iran knows this and so does Hezbollah. saber rattling is a way of saving face by Iran, but in the long run, I doubt that they would want to take on Israeli Jericho missiles, cruise missles, the Israeli airforce and a thermonuclear stockpile that is probably the 5th largest in the world. Consider as well the satellite detection system that Israel shares with the US, and the stealth technology that Israel possesses. Iran is no match for Israel and Israel would not allow Hezbollah the ability to rein missiles down on Haifa the way that it did in 2006. Irregardless of right, wrong or in the middle, Israel has taken 60 years of it's neighbors trying to drive it into the sea. They aren't about to allow Iran to become a real nuclear threat. Europe has offered to give Iran uranium fuel for peaceful use. Iran refused the offer. Sounds ominous to me.
