Using his trusty BB gun to help him return to Earth, a 48-year-old gas station owner flew a lawn chair rigged with helium-filled balloons more than 200 miles across the Oregon desert Saturday, landing in a field in Idaho.

  Me too, Goppy. But I fight the compulsion on the grounds that it's obviously insane. So instead I build box kites and let the local cats ride in them. They dig that. I think.

      Unfortunately, he ran into a storm and got blown out to sea. He had GPS and sat phone, but did not know how to use the GPS to find his position (??!!). Whereabouts unknown and presumed lost.

For Libs: Yes, most of Oregon is a desert - everything east of the Cascade Mountains. The SE corner of Oregon is one of the most remote parts of the U.S.
