Looks like his platform puts a different spin on "Change" - which McCain defines and redefines on an almost daily basis. This looks more like "Caprice" to me - with no real compass from which Americans can extract firm commitment to any direction. It's not at all reassuring to know that when we vote for Dr. Jekyll in the morning - by nightfall he has morphed into Mr. Hyde. Frankly I don't expect better than that from any politician. They are victims of their own poisons and passions. The horrific part is that the voting public can become collateral victims of their many mixed messages. This is the season for some real whoppers....

Perhaps you two were thinking of Obama, who signed on to accept public funding, but changed his mind, who said he was all for town-hall debates, then changed his mind, who said he would not accept lobbyist support, but has accepted millions from lobbyists and law firms representing lobbyists and has federal lobbyists working on his campaign.
And, of course, there was Obama telling an American audience he is against NAFTA while his advisor was in Canada saying the exact opposite to Canadian officials. Then we have Jeremiah Wright, a man Obama could not disown as he was his mentor and like an uncle to him -- until it became politically expedient to do so.
The DC gun ban he supported then denounced, his proclamation of campaign transparency that evaporated in favor of scripted, tightly controlled events - He won't even let media in at some.

"...but one person who did not seem to want a mere love-in was the candidate himself.
"He relished the chance to "respectfully disagree" with questioners, to give them a dose of that trademark straight talk - and even, occasionally, to shut them up."
He's quite a change from Obama, whose campaign won't allow anything but scripted and highly controlled events. They won't even let scarf-wearing Muslim women sit within camera shot of Obama.

It must have broken conservative hearts all across America, the chance to publish Obama's picture with a crowd of women in muslim scarves behind him.
Try photo-shop.

I am trying to figure out what I would ask McCain; a man I still admire, though I no longer trust.
How about, 'Who are you voting for in November?'
I am certain he still has a deep and abiding hatred for the neo-cons; and they are gritting their teeth supporting him.
If McCain starts to actualy see his victory as THEIR victory, I think he might prefer to lose.
This November he might vote for Obama.
