I agree that one should not kill period, but this stinks to high heaven. No one has the right to decide who lives, or dies except a jury of ones peers and that includes cops. Remember this is a nation of laws, well it is supposed to be at any rate.

Even in the year 2008 the above statement is one that we must all remember.

More proof that the police can be just as bad as the criminals in our society.
We should not kill anybody. But the police seem to think they have the right to decide who lives or dies. As if they know who is good and who is bad by looking at them. I don't know who we should be more afraid of. Gun toting maniacs selling drugs or gun toting maniacs wearing badges.

I hate to burst your bubble, but unless an inmate was given the key or the code, or both, the prison staff are the prime suspects, especially if they gave an inmate access. Sad but true. Do we rule out the prisoners, no. But, the prison staff have to be on the list, since they were the only ones allowed in.

J4A, This is one of the worst comments I have ever read. Police officers risk their lives every single day to keep you safe. On average 58 officers are killed in the line of duty every year. And nearly 60,000 if them are attacked. As a matter of fact, right now as I am typing my local news is reporting that 2 local cops were shot at by a man last night while trying to serve a warrant, and a third was shot while eating dinner at a local restaurant.
The only reason anyone should ever fear the police is if they themself are a criminal. And lets not forget, this kind of thing does not happen to people who do not commit crimes.

It's no wonder that anyone going to prison today comes out worse than when they went in. What a ridiculous system. Who thought of that anyway? Wyatt Earp? It's not working and those not rehabilitated, but just abused, become worse abusers for us to deal with out here. If there is an idiot anywhere that believes you can beat and torture people in prison and then let them out and they'll be oh so afraid to go back that they'll behave, they are dumber than ever thought. THEY WILL BE WORSE!!!!!!!!!!!!! THAN BEFORE!!!!!
So unless you want all of our prisoners to serve life sentences for violent crimes, especially cop killers, it better be handled just a little differently. It would take a lot of tax money, big tax increases to everyone including the upper 1%, to house all those prisoners. So if you think gas prices are high, wait until you pay for prison for life for all of them.

No one is questioning the honor of the police officer killed. No one is saying that the suspect being held was innocent. What we are saying is that our system is set up so we have the right to a fair trial unless we so give up that right.
This does not diminish how horrible a crime is when it involves a police officer. But I would hope that we are better at this than the criminals. We have to honor our system or there is no point. We do not live in a kill or be killed society. At least, not yet.
