PARIS (AFP) - Recent massive volcanoes have risen from the ocean floor deep under the Arctic ice cap, spewing plumes of fragmented magma into the sea, scientists who filmed the aftermath reported Wednesday. The eruptions ââ;¬" as big as the one that buried Pompei ââ;¬" took place

"along most of the mid-ocean ridge â;; including the Gakkal Ridge â;; the plates are pulling apart, allowing molten magna and gases trapped beneath the crust to escapeâ;¦

Both sonar and visual images showed an ocean valley filled with flat-topped volcanos up to two kilometres (1.2 miles) wide and several hundred metres high.

Er, is it not possible that these volcanic eruptions â;; going back to at least 1999 â;; may have played a part in whatever melting there has been of the Greenland and Arctic ice sheets?"

"ScienceDaily (June 26, 2008) — A research team led by the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) has uncovered evidence of explosive volcanic eruptions deep beneath the ice-covered surface of the Arctic Ocean. Such violent eruptions of splintered, fragmented rock--known as pyroclastic deposits -- were not thought possible at great ocean depths because of the intense weight and pressure of water and because of the composition of seafloor magma and rock."

            Very good observation, Brother Michael.

I've been seeing more info about these volcanic eruptions for the past few days. Very interesting and very likely the cause of any excessive melting in the arctic.

" Very interesting and very likely the cause of any excessive melting in the arctic."

Without the slightest bit of evidence you warming-deniers will grasp at any straws, won't you.

              Bunk. Absolute bunk.
