Pretty sure this is a hoax.

    http://www.snopes.com/radiotv/tv/subway.asp

Nothing in any of the news services, and nothing anywhere says he had bypass surgery.

    Here's his bio on wikipedia:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jared_Fogle

I may be wrong, so if there are other reliable sources besides the website that suggests you donate low fat condiment packets to the homeless in lieu of donations, please post them. I'm interested in seeing some more on this story....

If he died, I doubt a Web site with multiple links would be up and running so fast. There is a claim his father told reporters he died. If so, there would be real news stories on it available.

      Fake

The snopes article is from 2007. The Jared Remembered site is 2008.

Yeah, and to add to it, the domain was registerd, via proxy, in March of this year...

          http://whois.domaintools.com/jaredremembered.com

It also seems that the donate link at the very bottom leads to a parked domain for 'medical adoptions', which I assume is the real reason for this whole thing. To build some link juice to the domain they want to sell...

I will certainly stand corrected if I'm wrong, but I think this is a hoax.

He was only 31-years old. I know people who eat those nasty sandwiches on a regular bases and still have made it to at least 40. After that you're pressin' your luck.

I heard at the funeral that Subway wrapped him up in a large sesame seed bun and dropped him into the ground. (He wasn't insured for lectuce and tomato.)

I heard his last wish was to be served deli-style at his favorite Subway, but the Feds nixed it.

                I declare shenanigans. Total hoax!

Consider this blurb from the website this comes from:

"In lieu of donations, please give low fat condiment packets to homeless shelters with the name 'Jared Remembered'"

The reports of Jared's death seem to be, a bit Twainishly, overstated.

It becomes ever more difficult to take the Propeller site seriously, but that's likely a good thing.

Why would this make it more difficult to take propeller seriously? It was busted out in the comments in no time. Add to that the fact that almost all social sites have had their hoaxes, some of them lasting for days, even weeks.

Heck, even the major news shows have been had before. This is the poster, not propeller.

Not really even a clever website. Hard to trust someone's "canned" or template website when no other news source would confirm it. If this had been posted as celebrities or humor, I could have accepted it better than being posted under "News."

So is it safe to say Jared didn't have gastric by pass surgery? Because that would be a real crock of poo if he did. Not that I would eat those nasty sandwiches but it goes against the whole campaign story.

To all you naysayers, I do not find Subway all that bad. In fact, I enjoyed a sub from their shop just the other day with my daughter. Neither of us found it disgusting or unappetizing. Sounds like some of you might be a bit snobby?

No disrespect to you OR to Jared, but Subway sucks. Way too skimpy on the meat. Go to Quiznos, you'll get your money's worth.

Never seen anything wrong with Subway either, though I have been disappointed by a few Quiznos subs. Though when it comes down to it either one are much better than any of the fast food burger places out there.

Problem with this story is, first off, the local and world news would have this already out long before this site received word on this.

Secondly, the hoaxers should've seen the latest ad with Jared on Subway for promoting their movie tie-in of Get Smart. Thus, this is highly unlikely he perished, unless he came across Sam & Max Freelance Police (owes Max money) or some displaced Daleks.

Find it rather distasteful one here would put this in NEWS as opposed to HUMOUR. Why I torpedoed this one without hesitation. Which is rare, since I usually vote for articles here.

One hopes the submitter behind this takes better discretion with placing future stories in the correct category.

i casually scoped out this article yesterday and quickly caught the stunt. did nobody else see the "in lieu of donations please give non-fat condiments to the homeless" line? this story certainly should be in humor. although in a twisted/goofing on pop culture/john waters kinda way it's sorta funny that it ended up in news.

This is a hoax. You can tell by the tone of the site. I don't think a real obituary site would have someone paying a lot of emphasis on how much of an amateur site designer they are.

And the "In lieu of donations..." line, just ridiculous.

I just don't understand why so much effort was put into making a site, unless there is some kind of promotional alternative motive behind this.
