So Berkeley, I'm still waiting... a pretty long time, to put it mildly, for you or anyone else to answer the simple question:
What did Israel possibly gain from the supposedly DELIBERATE attack on the USS Liberty? This gain was so huge that it justified the risk of turning the only ally of Israel in June 1967 into an angry enemy in case the US discovered that the attack was DELIBERATE.
Any guesses?

Kirby, for example, is "absolutely certain" about this. A storied career NSA official, Kirby had founded the ELINT program under which the Liberty and her several sister ships operated. "It was my baby," he said in an interview last year.

Pressed about what made him sure the Israelis wanted to destroy the Liberty, Kirby said it was because he'd personally analyzed the SIGINT intercepts of their communications gleaned from various American intelligence sources. These disclosed: 1) that the on-scene attackers that June 8 correctly identified the ship, and 2) that regardless, Israeli commanders at an as-yet-unknown level instructed them to annihilate the Liberty....
...In an interview Feb. 24, 2003, retired Air Force Maj. Gen. John Morrison, the agency's then-second in command (and Kirby's successor), said he had been informed at the time of Kirby's findings and endorsed them. William Odom, former NSA director and retired Army lieutenant general, said on March 3, 2003 that on the strength of such data, the attack's deliberateness "just wasn't a disputed issue" within the agency.

Come on now-- "the Ugly Truth Word Press"? Another credible newsworthy journal brought to us by the same type of misanthropes that post "CounterPunch", "AntiWar", "Populist America" etc. They are about as reputable as the Ayran Nation Publications. Face it, everyone with an opinion can and does publish their brand of "Truth" on the web. However, they never spend the time and money to Publish in the real world of print and paper. Our founding fathers gave us freedom of speech, realizing that they could not regulate stupidity. Anybody who believes everything (or anything) that they read in these web publications deserve to remain ignorant forever. One sided journalism isn't journalism, it's manipulation.

I have not met anyone who believed everything (or anything) that they read... Actually, I did but those were complete idiots.
Most people believe in what they want to believe. A good example are the Jew-haters here and in other places. They believe (or pretend to believe) in everything making Jews to look bad even if it does not make any sense like the USS Liberty story. These individuals can further be divided on those who genuinely believe that the evil Jews DELIBERATELY attacked the Liberty (there are very few such people) and those knowing that the DELIBERATE attack is a hateful lie. The majority of Jew-haters are of this type.
Still further, some people are honest enough to beleive in things supported by common sense, proven facts and logic.

The big thing going around the Web now is Obama's wife's thesis. Apparently, someone, for political reasons (God forbid) purposely took the thesis and rewrote parts of it to make her look like a racist. Hyperbola does this every day. She picks only web publications like those that I named above who twists facts and then feeds them to whoever will listen as if it were the real facts. She then twists them even further to fit her agenda until the real history is unrecognizable. In both cases, Obama's wife's thesis and Hyperbola's attempts at discrediting Israel, is slander plain and simple. It is an act that is not covered under Freedom of Speech, but rather under our system as unlawful acts. In both cases, manipulation of information to purposely create discourse can be construed as a hate crime if it in fact promotes people to believe the worst for political or personal reasons. Although I won't name names, Sound like anybody that we know?
