Actually, Western European countries have been experiencing an alarming fall in birthrates. If we were talking about China or India it would be different, Western Europe isn't overpopulated and unable to feed its population, or even maintain it. That's a key reason why so many workers from Islamic countries have relocated there, changing the ethnicity of the population.

Utterly sad. That 'baby hatch' idea should be used throughout the country and publicized extensively so that more of these otherwise doomed babies could be given a chance for a life.

Infanticide in modern America or western Europe is incomprehensible to me. These mothers must suffer from some form or other of dementia. There is always an alternative.

People who do this are generally desperate. And desperate people frequently don't tell anyone, because we are rewarded for showing we can hold it all together, so we pretend we have everything handled at work and with our extended families. That can breed some pretty nasty hidden behaviors.

Could it be possible that postpartum depression plays a role in these cases?
