News – The Senate, in a direct challenge to President Bush, voted Tuesday to temporarily halt the shipment of thousands of barrels of oil a day into the government's emergency reserve.
The reason prices are so high is because Bush didn't get his drilling wish in Alaska. He will do anything to impose his dictatorial power, no matter who he hurts.
I'm with you on the dictatorial power thing, but not drilling in ANWAR has practically no effect on price. Most of the Oil hike is due to speculators and unrest in the middle east thanks to guess whom?
Bush? I agree. IF he nuked all the population centers of Arabia, Iraq, Iran, and other oil nations, took over all their oil fields, (threatening nuclear obliteration on those who complained about it), prices would probably now be waaaaay down. Muslim and world hatred of Bush FOR such aggressive villany would also probably remain the same as it is now, because, truthfully, HOW can such hate for him rise any higher than it already is?

Pointless.
What we don't save gets used; what we don't use, the rest of the world will buy.
The only thing that can protect us from oil prices shocking our economy, is to make ourselves less reliant on fossil fuels.
This is where we need a realistic energy policy; implemented about five years ago. Instead we tried to conquer mesopotamia.
What a waste.
Right on target as the 70,000 barrels represents something like .003% of what we consume on a daily basis. Though it does make sense to stop buying oil at $125 a barrel just to put it back in the ground for some future need.
By taking simple conservation measures we could easily cut back on what we consume.
