"Unimaginable tragedy" if Myanmar delays aid

News – Desperate survivors of Cyclone Nargis poured out of Myanmar's Irrawaddy delta on Sunday in search of food, water and medicine as aid groups said thousands more people will die if emergency supplies do not get through soon.

"Unless there is a massive and fast infusion of aid, experts and supplies into the hardest-hit areas, there's going to be a tragedy on an unimaginable scale," said Greg Beck of the International Rescue Committee.

This is a horrible tragedy being compounded! There was one reporter that managed to travel through the countryside, before being kicked out by the military guards. There was human and animal bodies floating everywhere! This will cause diseases in and by itself!

I don't think anyone noticed, but they had an election there over the weekend - the military retained govt control - if they had allowed relief in & UN & other personel bet they would have lost.

Whats a couple of hundred lives if you can retain power?
