The cops got off because Sean Bell and his loser friends were arguing about getting a gun and then went to their car. The cops told them to stop and that's when Sean Bell tried to run over one of the cops and then ram the police van in a DRUNKEN STUPOR.
Between Sean Bell, Trent Benefield and Guzman, they had about 14 arrests between them for weapons and drugs.
And here's the biggest lie of all: THERE WAS NO WEDDING DAY!! THERE WAS NEVER A MARRIAGE LICENSE PROCURED.
What should bother Sharpton is that plenty of black people are killed for absolutely no reason in their community. But since he and his National Action Network can't make any money off of those killings, they just love finding fault with cops where none exists.
I'm about as white as they come, but I have to deal with police on a daily basis, so you get to know what type of people are attracted to that calling as well as how they are trained to think.
I can't believe that i am agreeing with dropkick, locky, and newbie..but only because i think you are right this time.Sharpton is a snake. When you try to run over cops you get what you deserve, black or white.
so because the guy wasn't really getting married the next day, it was okay for the cops to whack him?
They NEVER identified themselves as cops. They (the cops) were in the bar drinking all evening.
According to witnesses at the time (apparently their memories have improved as time goes by), the cops were already shooting when the guy tried to ram the UNMARKED police van.
Did those cops REALLY have access to these guys criminal records when they opened fire? Did they even REALLY know who they were shooting at?
The marriage was just part of the "drama" of the innocent black man killed by racist police that were hell bent on killing somebody that night.
They did not have to identify themselves according to the NYS Criminal Procedural Law. Thank God that law was written so cops wouldn't have to die doing their jobs.
Sean Bell was no stranger to the Criminal Justice System. He knew DARN WELL they were cops and he didn't want to go back to jail. Unfortunately for him, he was drunk and tried to use his 3,000 LB car as a deadly weapon.
The cops knew about a conversation about a gun and the when they tried to stop potential violence, Sean and his friends tried to run over the cops. So their criminal records didn't matter.
That said, their criminal records are real. The wedding day is a fake.

If someone pulls a gun on you without identifying themselves as a police officer, you should have every right to defend yourself in whatever way you feel necessary. Including running the person over with your car.
You're in a parking spot w/only 1 way to go, a man with a gun pointed at you, not reallhy saying anything, and DEFINITELY NOT identifying himself as a cop.
Wrong.

yeah, and it only took them a year to come up with that story...
That's ok. Many black people refuse to believe how Sean contributed to his own death. The ridiculous protest is proof of that.

What's really important here is.....Where's Jesse Jackson?
Is he gonna let Al Sharpton get all the glory and all the media?
Run, Jessee, run! Run, Jessee, run!
And when is Rev. Wright gonna weigh in on this thing?
You know why they shot him 50 times ???
They ran out of bullets !
Locky,
Quit letting facts get in the way of hating "the man"
: )
Sorry, accidental neg.

Hey baddad, goes to show you. Even a stopped clock is right twice a day huh?
;o)
lol,you are absolutely right.

Sean was ALREADY trying to run them over. THEN they started shooting.

From what I heard & saw on the news, they were UNDERCOVER, NEVER identified themselves, & had their weapons drawn.
If someone points a gun at you, what exactly would you do?
Drive away in the opposite direction.
Have you seen where his car was it was in a tight spot he wasn't driving away if even he wanter to!

My 1st thought is duck & hit the gas - HARD.
