On another site which had 5 picture's, the buildings are all standing. High water and downed trees. I've seen more devastation in the mid-west tornadoes in the last two weeks. Is this hyper bole news? Regardless, any loss of life, home and food is sad to hear about. God bless them all.
Tornadoes can have winds in excess of 150 MPH. A 150 MPH Cyclone has winds that are equivalent to the very high end of an F2 or the low end of an F3 tornado. However, tornadoes are generally no more than a few hundred feet across. Cyclones (same as hurricanes here) have eye walls up to 30 miles across and the maximum winds may extend over an area 100 miles wide. Think an F3 tornado 100 miles wide. Get the picture.
A few snapshots of moderate damage probably just means news crews can't get into the area of maximum devastation yet. Such a poor nation. I hope help gets to them quickly. They will need it, as rudimentary services will be out for months.
you may want to brush up on the difference between cyclones and tornadoes. The loss of life now is counted at well over 2000 people, all in the same town.
