Last member of failed plot to kill Hitler dies
News – Philipp Freiherr von Boeselager, believed to be the last surviving member of the inner circle of plotters who attempted to kill Adolf Hitler in 1944 with a briefcase bomb, has died. He was 90.
WOW! I would have thought the Nazis pretty much executed all of them 64 years ago. Good to see at least one lived out his life.
"By 1942, he said that 'It was no longer about saving the country, but about stopping the crimes,' the newspaper quoted him as saying."
I always read that the Regular German Army hated the SS and considered them military amateurs - later proven wrong to some extent. But the Wermacht would run a relatively "clean" military campaign, only to have the SS come in and commit grievous atrocities -- sometimes on a populace such as in the Ukraine who were happy to be rid of Stalinist oppression.
