Queen celebrates her 82nd birthday
News – Queen Elizabeth II was quietly celebrating her 82nd birthday on Monday, amid a stirring of republican sentiment in Australia and proposals at home for reforming the monarchy.
The British tourism industry makes a fortune from Her Majesty and all the pomp and circumstance. Who doesn't love a "Royal" parade or a monarch's palace?
She's also a great lady, who seldom puts a foot wrong (no pun intended), unlike her offspring and spouse.
If I remember some ancient English history, HMM, I think her great grandmother(?) Queen Victoria was on the throne longer than 56 years. I think she reached over 60 years; there was a "diamond jubilee" celebration. Other than that, I don't think there's another to touch her record.
"To mark the day, the Union Jack is flown on all government buildings from 8:00 am until sunset, and royal gun salutes are fired in her honour."
"She also has second, 'official' birthday on a Saturday in June, when the warmer weather is better suited to outdoor parades."
"The queen is head of state in 16 Commonwealth countries, including Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Jamaica."
Happy Birthday Queen Elizabeth!!! ;~]
Yes, definitely! Happy Birthday Queen Elizabeth and many more!
