News – The politics of pile-on is going on over at ABC as everybody from Obama-friendly MoveOn to a wide array of TV critics are ripping Wednesday's co-moderators Charlie Gibson and George Stephanopoulos for offering "shoddy, despicable performances" in the words of the Washington Post's Tom Shales.
I was hoping for questions about gas prices, reconstruction of Iraq, housing crisis, health care, national debt, repealing tax cuts to top 1%, revelation of torture approval by Bush cabinet members, Iran rhetoric etc.,
However, it was digging up the same dirt that has been tossed around for months now that has nothing do with a new President, whoever it may be, will confront next year.
If this is what voters are dished out to watch, no wonder this country elects people like Bush and his son!!!!!!!!!!!! and praises a hypocrite like McCain.
Y'all expected real probing questions from ABC? Y'all need to remember that like all the other MSM station, including faux, and CNN, they are owned by the fat cats and no questions get asked that have anything to do with real issues. Why you even bothered to watch is beyond me. Especially when you knew what you were going to get.
Here's another take on the debate and the reactions to it, from Frank Rich:

Looks like most Americans may finally be waking up, rebelling against this kind of pandering media BS that passes for political coverage that's shoved down our throats.

Funny how Charlie Gibson ( a liberal)is being slammed for questions that were given during the DNC debate. Whats the problem? BHO is just showing his true colors.
Why do you call Charlie Gibson a liberal? Or is that just what the radio commentators have told you he is?
The problem, mcarpentry, is that Americans want to know how the candidates would address the REAL problems that affect them--things like skyrocketing healthcare costs; food shortages; gasoline prices; credit and housing crises; decimated consumer protections; failing dollar and outrageous national debt; and of course, the destructive and ineffective war in Iraq.
The rest is distraction from real issues. I guess people are smarter about what they're looking for in a president than you think.
