These 2 bureaucrats, Shradar & Johnson, are just more clones of the sycophantic bootlickers that Bush favors, just like Alberto Gonzales. They have absolutely no regard for their supposed jobs, no professionalism, no regard for the public good, no regard for truth and honesty. They are just there to stall as much as possible and do the bidding of GWB and Cheney.

This seems to be the way that the entire Bush administration is managed.

I am disgusted and outraged.

Bush has less than a year left in office. Suing his administration would amount to no more than a complete waste of taxpayer dollars. Besides, in case no one has been paying attention, we just had a long, cold, bitter winter here in the Northern Hemisphere.

Global warming is highly questionable -- especially the unlikely "man-made" part.

You don't have the basic understanding of what global warming is. Regardless of "man made", or natural. Something must be done to slow, or stop global warming before we wind up in another ice age. Global warming causes a build up of carbon dioxide in the upper atmosphere thereby reflecting sunlight back into space and causing less sunlight to reach the earth.

You are dumber than a first grader.

"Stop global warming before we end up in another ice age"? And you have the temerity to call someone else dumber than a first grader?

Maj & Libs - The 2 of you have no idea what you are talking about. You guys remind me of the 5 blind men touching a single part of an elephant and using that part to describe the whole elephant.

Global warming describes the slowly increasing AVERAGE temperature over the entire globe or, at least, a very large region. Within that large region or in the globe, there will still be seasonal variations.

During a cooling trend, there may be parts of the world that are hotter than average. During a warming trend, there may be places where the temperature is cooler than average.

The warming of the globe is here. It is occuring even as you sit and pick your nose now.

There is legitimate debate about the primary causes - CO2, solar flares, methane, CFC's, volcanism, agriculture, deforestation, etc.

But there is no doubt whatsoever that manmade activities CONTRIBUTE to global warming.

Please note that methane, CFC's, deforestation, farming, and most CO2 are all manmade.

Why are we suing ourselves (EPA)? Why don't we sue the countries selling the oil that is causing this global warming?

What? First of all, even if we could sue a country for that reason, it's not like we have to buy the product.

proto - Actually it is a coalition of states and organizations that is suing the EPA. We can do very little to force other nations to improve their environmental pollution. All we can do is try to improve what is possible that is under our control. That is why we need the EPA to issue rulings and standards; then we need the EPA to enforce those standards.

The Supreme Court issued a narrow ruling which stated that the EPA must first decide if there is a danger to our health and gave no time line. So some states, et al., feel that they are SURE of the dangers posed, the cause of the danger and they feel that the courts ruling did not go far enough. Well, goody goody for them. Just how far do you think they'll get with this? No where! The court will never rule that the EPA must make a decision with scientific certainty by a certain date. And in the unlikely event the court did make such a ruling, it would never rule that certain regulations must be put into place by a certain time. And further the states have no legal standing. If they want tougher environmental laws enforced, let that be done at the state level. California has done that for years.

Every time someone posts something which involves the three branches of the government, I never cease to amaze myself at how little people understand the separation of powers.

MajJohn - Every time someone posts something which involves human activity or judicial decisions, I never cease to amaze myself at how little people understand the forces of nature.

It sounds like just because some Bush appointee in some govt dept or some judicial lackeys says something, that that is the absolute truth, untainted by pressure from the WH. And mother nature will also listen and obey GWB and Cheney.

The forces of nature, pollution, global warming, etc. will continue to do what they were destined to do regardless of what any human says. Whatever Bush lackeys say or decide is not what is happening in reality.

Say whatever you want about fallible HUMAN institutions, Bush refuses to see the reality of the world. He is insulated in his little world of oil and auto CEO's, agribusiness etc.

The fruits and nuts in our society will strangle our economy with garbage like this. In the meantime, China, India, Russia and other nations will gladly burn all the fuel we don't use. They will build coal and gas fired power plants, many of them with our money via the "World Bank". Of course World Bank projects will require pollution controls on their projects. They turn them off 15 minutes after the ribbon cutting ceremony. I know, I start these plants up all over the world. What we SHOULD be doing is building nuclear plants, but the same fruits and nuts block that at every opportunity. Good luck USA but I'm afraid you're screwed.

As with every other issue dealing with global warming or climate change, the Bush administration has obstructed, delayed and ignored any ruling that may effect the bottom-line for corporations on their CO2 emissions. What's the health and welfare of our citizens and the viability of our planet if corporations don't make the obscene profits they want or expect?
