News – ]]>Pope Benedict XVI rejoiced over conversions to Christianity a day after he baptized a prominent Muslim, marking Easter Sunday in a rain-drenched appearance he used to renew calls for peace in Iraq, the Holy Land and Tibet.]]>
Whats the big deal...The Pope basically converted an atheist. And shouldn't this be common, considering he is the Pope..
He probably was an atheist. SINCE the world isn't fighting billions of Muslims at the same time, I'm thinking that MOST people who call themselves Muslims, really aren't Muslims, but, want to keep from paying the jizyah or, from having their head carved off by those who really ARE Muslim. Well, atheist or not, this convert to Catholism is in grave danger. He'll need a lot of prayers for protection.
The pope is not even Christian. That is the fact of it.
As a born again believer in Christ, I know for a fact that anyone who believes he is a "stand in" for Christ, is NOT a true brother or sister in Christ.
A pope believes that he is a stand-in for Christ on earth, a job that is the Holy Spirit's. Jesus did not say that He would send a pope to lead us and teach us in all things (us being, followers of Christ). Jesus said that He would send the Comforter --The Holy Spirit.
Jesus also said, "Unless a man be born again, he cannot enter the kingdom of God." Salvation has nothing to do with what a 'church' says or does. Yet, the RCC says salvation is through its 'church'.
This is Easter. Easter is all about Jesus dying for our sins and raising from the dead --proof that He is God in the flesh, the Son of God.
God says in Scripture that He will share His glory with no one. The "Holy Father", is God --NOT a pope.

DebraJMSmith is not even close. That is the fact of it.
The Pope is the successor of St. Peter whom Jesus left the keys to heaven with. Peter is the rock on which Jesus built His Church. What he binds on earth is bound in heaven and what is loosed on earth is loosed in heaven.
It is the Paraclete-- the Holy Spirit that drives the teaching office that was left to Peter and the Apostles and their successors, the Pope and the Bishops.
And since these successors have everything to do with administering the seven sacraments, they have A LOT to do with our salvation in harnessing the power of the Holy Spirit.
All that said. I am glad you are a member of my Church.
Jesus was simply speaking 'to' Peter about the truth of who Jesus is, and that on that truth (the Rock, Jesus Christ --the way, the truth, and the life), Jesus would build His church. Jesus is the Rock. All throughout Scripture, the Lord is the Rock.
If you read down a little further in that Scripture, Peter messes up, and Jesus did not hesitate to say, "Get behind me, Satan", to Peter.
I am a member of the true church, the true Christian church, which is made up of all true believers. If you are a true believer, then we are members of the same church --which is not the Catholic church.

If you read even further, after Jesus rose from the dead, you would read where Jesus asked Peter 3x if he loved Him, then Feed my Sheep. And Jesus said he would pray for Peter, not necessarily for the other apostles because it would be Peter that would lead His church. Again, you are baptized and therefore a member of my church- the Roman Catholic Church.
Hi Locky12...
That is not proof of what the Catholic church teaches about Peter. You believe it, because you wish to believe it.
I have no need to believe something artificial because I have He who is real. Jesus Christ alone saves souls. It is by no other name that one can be saved.
Scripture states that one must be born again to enter the kingdom of God.
I know that you want to think that I am part of your Catholic church, but I am not. I was baptized after accepting Jesus Christ as my Lord God and Risen Savior. Baptism did not save me, Jesus did.
Those who rest on a water baptism, or sprinkling, are resting on a false belief. I rest on Christ. Christ saved me. I am saved by Grace, through faith, which is a gift from God and not of works, lest any man should boast.
I hope you are having a happy evening,
