News – We are riveted, but why? Nearly every post-scandal news conference is like every other. There's a script to these things, as we all know, and New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer followed it to the letter yesterday in seeming to acknowledge his involvement with a prostitute and apologizing for it.
Must have been some real good Mexican booty. It's the only thing I could think that would get a man to do such a stupid thing as provide driver licenses to illegal Mexicans.
Though I said it slightly differently, I said the same thing. It now only stands to reason that someone was blackmailing him in order to get him to seek licenses for illegals.
Though, yes, we all mess up in life, I think his mistake affected his performance as governor. He should be removed.
Debra...
This is not a liberal or conservative issue.
He broke the law and was elected to uphold the law.
He should have resigned immediately.
"This is not a liberal or conservative issue."
I agree - but he doesn't:

The partisan games continue on Nutscape.
That's assumptive. There's always the possibility that he regrets his actions and is repenting honestly.
True! I remember Jimmy Swaggart's tearful repent after his dalliance with a New Orleans prostitute. He, too, severely castigated from his "pulpit" those who succumbed to "sins of the flesh".
Spitzer lends further credence to what famales have long criticized us males for....an inability to supply sufficient blood supply to both the brain and the penis at the same time.
Now, if this idiot could make up a pack of lies to invade a foreign nation, kill about a million foreign nationals, advocate and condone torture of detainees, bankrupt the treasury, and get New York 10 trillion in debt, he could qualify to be President of the United States. I hope he resigns so the Repukes don't have to waste millions of dollars of taxpayer money to get rid of him. Even though they are vomit sucking hypocrites themselves, Repukes are correct in calling for his ouster.
C'mon Teech! You really believe that baloney? Swaggart, and creeps like Spitzer are hardly never sorry until they're caught! Then, and only then are they sorry. Otherwise, they'd still be doin' it.
Not really. You're dead right in that repentance really means "I'm repentant for getting caught and revealing how stupid and corrupt and hypocritical I really am."
You think they would stop on they're own if they weren't ever caught? You must be looking at the world through rose colored glasses my dear. With all due respect, and to show you that, I gave you a pos vote anyway, although I don't agree with you because I guess I'm more cynical than you. But that's the way this world has me going these days.
"True! I remember Jimmy Swaggart's tearful repent after his dalliance with a New Orleans prostitute. He, too, severely castigated from his "pulpit" those who succumbed to "sins of the flesh"."
You need to detail which time. ;-)
after said repentance he asked his flock to send money so God wouldn't call him home right then and there. I bet he laughed all the way to the bank and then booked a 7 diamond hooker.
Why is it that we are so fascinated when someone in the public eye screws up?
If he broke the laws then he should resign. Otherwise, if he technically didn't break a law then who cares?
The allegations bearing down on New York's governor didn't start with a prostitute -- despite lurid details in a federal affidavit detailing an alleged tryst with a "very pretty brunette" named Kristen last month.
Rather, sources familiar with the investigation said Tuesday that Gov. Eliot Spitzer's troubles began with a federal money-laundering probe.
http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/03/11/spitzer....
The federal investigation into a high-end prostitution ring linked to Gov. Eliot Spitzer apparently began last year as a financial probe by the Internal Revenue Service.
The public-corruption unit of the U.S. attorney's office got involved after the IRS looked into a complaint of a potential violation of the Bank Secrecy Act, the government's main tool against money laundering.
Spitzer's "repentance" was a weasel-worded statement that buys him time while he (and his high priced legal defense team) sees what if any charges the Feds can bring against him.
I feel sorry for Spitzer's wife, children and parents but not for him. NY State will be better off once Spitzer leaves office.
People make mistakes and this wasn't a life ending ordeal. Due to his position ,its a bigger deal. As far as his wife is concerned its nobodies business but hers on how she should handle it.Worst part is CNN getting a hold of it and going over it and over it and over it, two thousand lawyers and politicians who have nothing better to do than go on TV and over analyze this thing to no end.
Spitzer is going to have a lot more to apologize for if the NY Post is correct:
SPITZER HAS USED HOOKERS FOR 6 YEARS: SOURCES
March 11, 2008 -- Gov. Eliot Spitzer has been soliciting high-priced hookers for at least six years and possibly for more than a decade, sources tell The Post.
Sources tell The Post that Spitzer had frequented high-priced hookers as far back as 2002 and possibly earlier.
Spitzer, who as attorney general lead investigations into prostitution, was among an elite group of powerbrokers and high-powered attorneys that regularly paid for dates at top escort agencies, sources said.
He's also reportedly hired a top-notch criminal defense law firm in anticipation of possible charges over his possibly illegal bank transfers.

Eliot Spitzer was a very aggressive PROSECUTOR and therefor, whether a governor or not should resign immediately.
He is a hypocrite with deep problems that, obviously he has never attempted to control...
Goodbye Eliot. You are a very intelligent fool!!
