During the six-day trial in Federal Court in Miami, sixteen witnesses testified that Mederos tortured them at a Havana psychiatric hospital between 1968 and 1978 simply because they expressed disapproval of Fidel Castro's communist government. Judicial Watch represents several of the victims in a criminal case against Castro before the Belgian Royal Courts for "crimes against humanity." Mederos' victims gave compelling testimony of how he used electro-shock treatments and insulin shots to torture victims with no record of psychiatric illness, in order to carry out Castro's totalitarian program of repression.
Among those who gave gripping testimony that left the jury in tears was Belkis Ferro, who was only 15 years old when Mederos tortured her with electro-shock treatments and insulin shots. Belkis was deemed a "rebellious teenager" and was punished for denouncing Castro's oppressive regime at school.

Neopjile- You have to respect that. I wonder what that country would have been like if the US didn play hard ball with them aster the civil war. Most people don't know that CHE and Castro came to the US and the US turned them away, this is when they went to the USSR for help. I am against his politics but i admire his balls!

he's probably dead or near death as you say. I doubt if there will be much change, though.
there was already a transference of power in July 2006. have you seen any changes?

Ah Bronxie! Happy to say that I never went too long without one!
EVEN in the US..
Recently I got a care package from some English friends who were over there on a visit. A hand-rolled matured beauty - alas not rolled on the inside ot a sultry beauty's thigh but by the hotel guy where they stayed.

no, what chavez TRIED to do was get the power to be elected "for life" but he failed. and as im sure you dont know, he actually respected the outcome of the vote.
your drek gets ssoooo old DK, ya think that every once in a while you could actually inject something thoughtful into a thread?
i mean the only purpose you serve is making juvenile remarks, that show no adult thought process or reason. on the other hand, we think you are great comic relief, but even a bad comedian knows when to leave the stage.

If our state department has ANY freaking brains there at all, there is ALREADY someone on Cuba - or on the way - to talk to Raul. MAYBE he isn't quite as dense as Fidel. Anyway, regardless of that it offers an opportunity to normalize relations with one of our closest neighbors. Which I can't help but think would be a GOOD thing.

They have already proven that they don't need US support or approval. Cuba has become a recognized vacation spot and has made vast improvements in their economy. Some will say about the slums and poverty but look around and those can also be found on Jamaica, Dominican Republic or any other Caribbean Island.

Joe, that's not as easy as you would think. That embargo was put into place by JFK. There is a full set of things that need to be done prior to this. Removing Castro and his dictatorship is only a part of it. There were millions stolen by the Cuban government from American business by the seizure of their assets. Along with that, you've got a huge population of Cuban exiles. We will need to make sure they get their property back too. Fidel and Raoul are only a small part of this.

Now you are talking about reviewing OLD wrongs. The way to make this work is to take a fresh start approach. What's gone is gone, and I doubt it'll ever be recovered. Shall we give back the Amerinds EVERYTHING that was taken from them? Let's not. I STILL don't want to live in a teepee. And I sure don't want to move back to Europe.

no matter what any1 wants, thats never gonna happen. the mob, coca cola, and even rich exiles... none will ever get anything back. how many jews got their property back after WW2? almost none, itll be the same with cuba. not agreeing with it, just stating the fact.

wow,
don't admire his policies, but I certainly admire his stamina. CIA attempts on his life, the Bay of Pigs...
Your an idiot, Talk to the starving people there and ask them about how they admire him, his a dictator, a killer, just like Chavez and all the rest. It is exactly we will have with Hillary

I agree with the sentiment but the Cuban people need to make that choice for themselves. Castro should be charged by the international courts before he dies listing his various crimes against humanity. Too bad the UN is too busy creating laws targeting Israel and not looking a little closer to home.
