CASTALIAN SPRINGS, Tenn. - The muddy field was littered with debris after a wave of violent storms: Living room couches, strollers, children's toys. So when two rescuers came upon a baby, they thought he was a doll. Then he moved.

    FTA:

"We grabbed hold of his neck (to take a pulse) and he took a breath of air and started crying," said David Harmon, a firefighter from a nearby county who was combing the field for tornado victims.

The boy was found at least 100 yards away from where his family's house had been, possibly lifted by the storm's fierce winds, according to witnesses at the scene on Thursday. There was no trace of exactly where the house stood. His mother, who did not survive, was found in the same field.

I think the Lord just picked that baby up and set it out of harms way. He has plans for that child!

I just heard on the eve news it was 250 yards away, regardless that's remarkable. Still extremely sad the mother died.

In a region devastated by tornadoes that killed at least 56 people as they swept through five states, the infant was a sign of hope. The 11-month old boy, named Kyson, was surrounded by flattened homes, bricks from a blown-apart post office and snapped trees, a devastating scene similar to so many communities across the South.

The baby's mother, 24-year-old Kerri Stowell, was one of six people killed in the small community, said Sumner County Sheriff Bob Barker

I am so sorry his mother was killed, but everything happens for a reason. I hope there is a large extended family for this child.

As I watch the news on this event I find it so hard to imagine what it would be like to have everything that you held dear destroyed ....a life or property and memories.

          Thanks N2N

All of the above. Miraculous.I've been in 3 tornadoes and it's not funny.

But with all disasters, there are always stories like this that give courage to the victims to hang in there.

How heart wrenching for the grandparents. They lose their daughter, yet God wraps his mighty hand around their grandson.

I pray for all those suffering thru this. Hopefully Bush and his idiots get off their as*es and do something unlike Katrina.

I remember visiting my Uncle's and Aunt's back in Iowa in '74.

My uncle said come on I got to go get something. So we jumped in his car. Man we were tooling down the road and a big old twister was about 2 miles away. We pulled over and were ready to jump in the ditch. It came within a half a mile from us. The sound was deafening. We found out later it lifted a McDonalds in Ankenany spun it around and left it like that. I don't know if I spelled Ankenany right.

Very interesting story. Tornadoes can be pretty scary sometimes but its usually best to just go to an area with all interior walls or a basement, cover yourself with a blanket or mattress and wait. I know where I live the tornado sirens go off at least three times a year! Anyway this is pretty amazing and I've seen the news cover it on television a bit. Its truly amazing the baby survived that.

These twisters hit about ten miles from my house. I am not home but i have family that is. They are out cutting downed trees from driveways to help out. They are trying to help yet stay out of the way of the rescue and recovery effort.

In response to V.O.R. whom posted a comment on 2/7 at ~1500: I agree that God is responsible. That child was swept away from his home (and not truly a far distance I might add) and saved to perhaps turn out to be someone special (in our eyes). And I also agree that all that God does is not good at the same time, i.e. natural disasters...but 55 people died. ONLY 55 people! Do you know many people exist today on this earth?!?!

You were very contradictory in your statement...in the end you say that you believe the Tenn. incident was an act of nature...winds creating a deadly force...like you said in the beginning...God did this...and for a reason...ONLY 55 people are dead from this devastating natural disaster...and they died b/c He had that plan set out as their destiny, or better yet, for our Destiny - one state's fateful event on one day in the life of our history as we know it. Yes; we, and esp. the family of the lost can mourn, but know that it was His plan and there is only more to come. So, we should all take this as a lesson, (just like '05 Katrina') and be more prepared for the next big 'natural' disasters to come. I believe we are only in the beginning of Revelations. Amen, I love thy Lord Jesus and His father almighty, GOD!

We all have an appointment to keep, we don't know when, but God does. When it's time for our appointment, there's nothing we can do.

                          Everything happens for a reason!
