News – Although he has been overshadowed by the primaries in recent weeks, George W. Bush regained center stage at Propeller this time around--along with discussions of bigotry, WMDs, and marijuana. (No inhaling, folks.)
I can't say I agree with you. I make a real effort to highlight comments from both sides of the aisle, including plenty of anti-Bush statements. But I'll keep this in mind going forward.
No, James, you do not. I have read plenty of your comments and you have shown plenty of disregard for former President Clinton. I am not satisfied by your glossing over the comments from Tessylo with a glib comment like you see comments from both sides of the aisle. Bush is undeniably one of the worst presidents this nation has ever had. Yet, we continue to glorify articles about him as submitted by AlphaG.
I think it's important to understand that Bill Clinton and Hillary are as Bilderburg and BushCo and that when it came to foriegn poliocy, Madeline Albright was every bit as vindictive and warped as Cheney. They're all part of the clan and the plan.
Bill gets a pass only because it has taken longer to get the book on him and because of the fact that he was elected by the people with no serious questions asked about the legitimacy of the vote tabulation process - didn't conduct a swift boat campaign, and was essentially far more gifted intellectually than either Bush 43 or 41. Granted it's difficult not to give him some credit for the economic upturn, but even that contains a number of qualifiers.
"Bilderburg and BushCo" Que?
"the clan and the plan" Say what?
"no serious questions asked about the legitimacy of the vote tabulation process รข;;"
Whining and crying, claiming that your voters are to dame stupid to use a punch card ballot is NOT "serious questions" about "legitimacy of the vote tabulation process"
LOL
David, with all due respect, you are wrong. If you read through all the Week In Review pieces I have written--not to mention the other articles, interviews, and comments I have contributed to this site--there is no way you will find an anti-Clinton bias. The accusation is absurd. Go to NewsQuake, check out my conversations with William Langewiesche and Carlo Bonini, or my coverage of the Democratic presidential debates. None of this stuff qualifies as Republican boosterism. The irony is that Propeller is often assailed for its supposed pro-liberal bias.
david,
Our forum has a lot more decorum, thanks to the efforts of James and his colleagues.
When you discuss religion and politics, you are going to get strong comments from each side. The give and take is a healthy exchange that keeps our freedom of expression alive.
I have often crossed (s)words with Alpha, but she has never crossed the line of decency and protocol, and neither have I.
In my view, we have a very healthy on-line community! We have been very lucky to have many like-minded friends and some worthy adversaries! If everyone said the same thing and supported the same philosophy, it will be like an echo chamber. I am sure I would not like it, and I think you may not like it, either!
Peace and Blessings!
WOW! That coming from a poster that will Give a post a bad vote & not make or add a intelligent response, even if it is a Hillary Clinton or Obama quote or even some totally left liberal that s/he openly supports because it is posted by a person that they stereotyped and categorized as "NEOCON" because of some view or another they agreed or disagreed with. Tessylo you come across to me as a creepy left wing liberal cool-aid drinking lurker with an agenda but not much substance.
Tessylo, that statement is not only obtuse, it's trite and petty. I explained to you ONCE that the liberal moonbat comment was a quote from someone that made a comment beneath my story. I even stated their name preceding the quote in the comment. Did you not notice the quotes?
As far as the na na na naaaa na, I was saying it in a teasing way and in jest. Just cuz you didn't get it doesn't make me childish. I was purposely being silly.
And if anybody has a legitimate gripe, it's me and others that are constantly at the receiving end of your stalking and serial negs. I won't even get into your immature statements.
You bring a lot that reaction onto yourself Alpha - and then play the persecution or "misunderstood" card whenever the web you spin gets a little tight for comfort. It's really quite difficult to take you seriously at the best of times.
Your comments and stories about politics and religion are generally predisposed to partisan conservative positions. I've seldom if ever seen you make an genuine attempt to deal with issues empirically. Fact is reps and dems alike are having trouble with BushCo and the neocon agenda -- have had for years -- but one would never know this by reading your posts and following your news.
If you think that I am commenting from a partisan position, think again. I'm no fan of arch dem positions either. The combination of two bull headed extremes are hastening the death of this republic and making plenty of profit for themselves in the process. Time you and many others woke up to that reality and stopped defending the indefensible.
doggamit, thank you for your respectful tone and I appreciate what you say. Most of what I submit is conservative and/or religious because it's who I am and what I like. I won't apologize for either. Submitting stories on Propeller is fun and I enjoy it immensely. Remember, no one is forcing anyone to come into my threads; they are free to read whatever they like. There are usually several other stories on the front page besides mine. I pretty much try to submit just one story a day anyway.
As far as my comments are concerned, most of the time I am just being funny. Sometimes I do have a dry wit and if I come across the wrong way, I apologize. Most of the time I am just talking chit. ; )
One thing I will say about politics and religion and that is, generally, whenever a person thinks they are speaking from a secure position, that is seldom the case. Holding fast to tradition for the sake of traditional securities is often what prevents us from exploring and experiencing other points of view and recognizing their validity. There's always MORE to explore and the only rule of thumb is really just a restatement of The Prodigal Son.
Just remember what John Armstrong had to say about his view of earth from outer space. There are no boarders. Sure, home is great and borders are still essential to SOME versions of politics and religion. But that doesn't mean there aren't ways and means of reconciling what a first glance appear to be opposing canons. It pays to take the long way home, but first you have to empty your cup and for most people that is just the beginning of a long and difficiult road home. Ain't no easy way out...
I'll keep on pouring then... (an old zen trick!) ; 0
Here's a theme song Ron Paul ought to be using. I think it describes the current state of centrism very nicely - maybe a few other sub-primes as well...
Hey look me over
Lend me an ear
Fresh out of clover
Mortgage up to here
But don't pass the plate folks
Don't pass the cup
I figure whenever you're down and out
The only way is up
And I'll be up like a rose bud
High on the vine
Don't thumb your nose
But take a tip from mine
I'm a little bit short of the elbow room
But let me get me some
And look out world
Here I come
See if you can find some air time for Mr. Paul, Alpha. He sure does smell a whole lot better to this dawg than Hilly-Obama and John-Romney. And you know what they say about a dawg's nose... and I'm sure you like it better sniffing in the rose garden than nudging around in some other places I could name... (if ya know what I mean... arf! arf! woof! woof!)
Come on Tessy, Alpha was just having some good natured fun. Yesterday Jovial was cracking jokes all over the place on a Romney story, and everybody got a laugh out of it. Today Alpha and a lot of others were bagging on McCain. It's all good. You and Joey Evans stalk and neg Republicans on EVERY site, even if they agree with you. Lighten up.
gringo,
Do me a favor and keep me out of your filthy lying mouth/posts...M..kay? Good! You, who makes his living off the Mexican people, offer nothing if not your hatred for anything Mexican in your posts are no one I wish to associate with in any manner.
Thanking you for your current and future consideration,
JOEY EVANS

Dose of lucidity ? Man , I was gettin' high at 11 years old , drinking wine at the park at 10 years old . I've owned three succesful businesses and raised a fine teenage son . Maybe that's the acception to the rule , I dunno . Pot needs to be legalized , just like alcohol was back in the twenties . Alcohol is not only a drug , it's a poison and embraced by most adults only 'cause it's legal . Could the lobbiests for liquor have something to do with legalization of weed ?
Crespi wasn't arguing for the continuing criminalization of pot, he was suggesting that we keep it away from children, just like all the other legal intoxicants. Or as Bill Clinton might say: define "lucid."
That is too funny . Good comeback .
"define "lucid.", LOL!!
Depends on what your definition of a "loose id" is.
Clever! I like it!
I do not find it funny at all. Why the slam on Clinton? James, couldn't you find someone else to slam?
Who? Like . . . . wait for it . . . . . . . . Bush?
lol, how dare he! James, how dare you not line up like a lemming to bash Bush. Maybe James doesn't suffer from BDS.
AG, please remember, this "BDS" as you quaintly call it is, day-by-day, morphing into "BDC" -- "Bush Departure Celebration". (Planning's already underway, out here, can't wait)
lmao! I'm very happy for you, blink. ; )
AG, you are a gracious lady indeed.
"AG, please remember, this "BDS" as you quaintly call it is, day-by-day, morphing into "BDC" -- "Bush Departure Celebration". (Planning's already underway, out here, can't wait)"
LOL, that's the closest thing you got as a victory against Bush! His 2 terms are over! ROFLMAO.
Is this what's called "lowered expectations"?
"His 2 terms are over!"
Er, last time I looked he was still very much President of the United States, injest, and will be right up to the minute his second term ends. Celebrations of this event should begin shortly thereafter -- BDC.
(Read more closely, I said nothing about "victory against Bush". I'm talking strictly about the "departure" of this most disastrous of all US presidents).
Lowered expectations are like lowered necklines!
If you go too far, reality hits!
I think Clinton can stand an occasional joke at his expense, and it's my privilege as a patriotic citizen to make them. It's not as though I treat Bush as a plaster saint.
Legalize Pot? Heck, the Democrats just banned tobacco in my state of Maryland. We are headed back to the stone age.
