Wow. They will be denied promotions. They probably saved a lot of innocent lives that day. Plus many lives in the future.

The seargeant that comitted suicide. How many tmes has that happened and not been reported?

The mission has failed, these troops are being faced with an unwinnable situation. The politcians have again failed to equip our soldiers with the winning strategy.

How sad that after all these guys went through to protect the neighborhood from insurgents, not a single person would tell them where that IED was buried. Instead, they let these guys get blown away. That's when they realized that if the Iraquis didn't give a damn, why should they? Shades of Viet Nam!

And yet, they had the maturity and awareness to know that they should stand down until they regained their unit integrity.

A poor, and ineffective officer command structure to not be aware of and respond to the needs of these men who probably avoided a My Lai type incident.

To hold up their awards and freeze their promotions is criminal. But so is our involvement in that whole fiasco that the lies of George Bush have gotten us into.

Teech:

There are things the insurgents do to people who co-operate just as they did in Nam. Families are murdered in front of villages to be an object lesson. Mothers and daughters raped then butchered. You cannot win the minds and hearts of those you are not there to protect constantly.

Yes they probably did avoid a Mai Lai type incident. These soldiers deserve the respect of their commanders for having the fortitude to do what's right. Well done men.
