The winds have remained calm here since yesterday afternoon. I am sure the containment figures will go way up once the Sun rises and they are able to fly over it. They made a really smart decision lst week when they knew the winds were coming back. EVERY resource was made available to anywhere it may be needed. Planes and helicopters were on stand-by, just waiting for the call. Those decisions certainly helped keep this fire relitivly small. Helicopter pilots were sucking water from swimming pools, allowing them to refill and drop on the fire in less than 4 minutes. And the DC-10 was able to drop fire retardant for long distances, then fly only about 15 mins away to be refilled. I am confident this fire will be well under control by tonight.

I feel sorry for those that have to deal with the fires so often,,,, as well as those that have to deal with every kind of event such as storms, quakes,,,,, I guess every region of the country has it's downside when it comes to this sort of thing

I feel NO pity for the people in malibu or anyone else in california who chooses to live in heavily fire-prone areas.

          caveat emptor.

in fact, my idea is that malibu and surrounding towns should pay an additional tax to support an expanded local aerial firefighting crew instead of leeching off the rest of the california tax payers.
