    Not to sound insensitive, but there are signs for a reason, he should've heeded the warning sign concerning alligators being in the immediate vicinity.

  Don't worry. Alligators are doomed.

  People building into their habitat and killing them, while rising water levels from global warming cover most of their breeding grounds, just about ought to do it.

    It's going to be people that doom these creatures. Alligators have survived extreme climate changes for millions of years and find ways of adapting to survive. Humans kill everything.

        He is saying they are extraordinary creatures, able to survive through millions of years of change without having to adapt or evolve... but they won't be able to survive humans.
