Gonzales Testimony »
Posted by: berkeley 1 year, 4 months agoIt has been a disastrous morning for Attorney General Alberto Gonzales at the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing. The major problem with his testimony is that Gonzales maintains, in essence, that he doesn't know why he fired at least some of the eight dismissed U.S. attorneys.

I watched a little of this on CNN yesterday. Mr Gonzales was as slippery as any politician can be. I get frustrated watching cause it all seems so great--the good guys are going after the bad guys. Don't be fooled---I'm sure they meet in the back room afterwards and all go to dinner together.

Alberto Gonzales is an enemy of the Constitution.
His resignation will not be sufficient. He should be tried for treason.

I was just wondering if anyone new the final count on how many times Gonzales said "I can't remember, or I don't recall"?
His former aid Kyle Sampson said "I can't remember 122 times,
during his hearing.

"I tell you, it's hard work remembering what Alberto Gonzales remembers and doesn't remember.
In October of last year, President Bush had a conversation with Gonzales about U.S. attorneys. According to the White House's public statements, the conversation was a broad one, about voter fraud in three districts. Gonzales has said publicly that he doesn't remember such a conversation taking place."

But that's not what Kyle Sampson told congressional investigators this past weekend. According to Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY), Sampson said that in early March of this year, Gonzales told him about a conversation he'd had in October with Bush that was specifically about U.S. Attorney for New Mexico David Iglesias. Remember that the White House was getting heavy pressure from Sen. Pete Domenici (R-NM) and other New Mexico Republicans to can Iglesias.
