15,000 troops could stay longer in Iraq »
Posted by: TechnologyExpert 1 year, 5 months agoThe Pentagon is considering a plan to extend the tours of duty for up to 15,000 U.S. troops serving in Iraq, a defense official said Monday. The idea is among options being considered in response to a request in the last couple of weeks by Gen. David Petraeus, U.S. commander in Iraq.

When are the people who tell these guys a tour duty gonna honor their word?!
These poor soldiers do everything this sick civilian leadership asks them to do, and then when its time for their vacation, their told they don't get to take it unless they work another 15 months?!
Mean while Bush is on vacation every third week!
I can't handle this... these troops are the only people left on your side, the least you could do is keep your promises to them.

The Republicans think "free" means free to have a gun and democratic meaning you have to support your President or you are a traitor. At least only 30% of Americans will now admit to being Republicans. We got 'em on the run. Round 'em up and ship 'em out in '08. How about a Dem majority in the Senate to the tune of 100-0?

Bush to soldiers: You will keep being recalled until the "war" is over. Don't worry you might retire even before you are ready for social security.
Bush to Congress: I have no idea of when this "war" will
Bush to people: This is a war on terror
Bush to Halliburton - The war on terror will only take place in regions that are valuable to the oil industry (e.g. not Indonesia).
Perhaps Congress nees a credible plan for using the funds that Bush needs to prolong this disaster.

Bring our troops home, NOW!! No more extensions, oh yeah, sorry the fine print, assignment 12 months, but may be extended on the whim of the president. naw, that was innuendo, not threat. innuendo is where stuff isn't spelled but insinuated, and the hearer of the phrase has to fill in the blanks and reach his own conclusion.
for instance, I thought he wanted the grassy knool to test his new riding mower/
and as the other fellow said, he had to say, 'there's never a book depository building around when you need one' for it to even be innuendo
just out of curiosity, is saying, 'I wish someone would [do something negative] to someone' a threat?
just checking

I guess none of the egg heads at the Pentagon have an opinion of their own. Just Blindly follow the orders of the Commander in chief. Whata we need that big building for? 10,000 knee-jerk chumps?

The war is ugly and deadly but in my opinion once you're in it you have to finish it or we will be branded again around the world specially the radical islamist that {AMERICA ARE SOFT AND COWARD-CAN'T HANDLE BLOOD BATH]You guys need to be reminded how many people died during the spanish-american war, how many died during the civil war, how many military men and women lost during WW11, how many we have lost during infamoused Vietnam war and lastly we already lost over three thousand of our young men and women in uniformed. We don't want them to die in vein- we need to finish the job to honored there sacrifies in life that has been lost just for love in our country. Politicians are heartless crybabies, self serving, crooks, ignorance and maybe just plain stupid. Please support our troops don't let them down.

Harddrive----All of the wars that you cited had enemies that could be identified. By staying in IRAQ (as our chickenhawk CIC is considering), we're making fodder of young lives. Our troops are hurriedly trained, poorly equipped, and are easily identifiable to the Sunni and the Shiites both of whom gladly kill them. We ARE supporting our troops when we say get them out of the slaughter.

Oh, is that it? We have to "finish" so we aren't considered wimps? So what you're saying is our troops are dieing so you won't be called a wimp? Well excuse me, I'll carry your share of "wimp" if that's what it takes. NOTHING, and I mean N-O-T-H-I-N-G justified this war in the beginning and NOTHING justifies staying there.
What a flimsey excuse for 'staying the course'.
I support the troops much more than you do. I want to see them live to fight a just cause...not die for for an unjust cause!

This war is going to have a beneficial side benefit. More soldiers will realize that this war is wrong and Canada will benefit with some new proud citizens, as with Vietnam.
I can't remember the statistics but the desertion rate is increasing. As time goes by and with America unable to rid itself of a dictator, the dilema will only exacerbate.
As one vet, and having a distain for this war with malice, I would never condemn the act of desertion. Aggressive behavior on a nation who never attacked America is wrong, wrong, wrong.

The Iraqis want us to leave and the majority of
Americans want to leave. If Shrub and Mr. Stent want to stay, maybe these girlie-men deciders should get a gun and join the fight on the ground in Iraq?

It seems that this administration's prime concern in Iraq is to ensure that US involvement remains undiminished until January 2009 so that any thoughts of withdraw, regroup, retrench, etc., can be handed on to the incoming administration.
Then, when the lecture tours and "good ol' buddy" reunions commence, former president Bush can bluff that he "defended America to the last". I find it repellant.

Whoa! Slow down a bit there.
There are legal methods for removing a President from Office.
I don't want a military junta doing anything within U.S. borders. Not ever, not for any reason.

"Military coup" has such negative connotations (military industrial complex, etc.), that it's basically unthinkable, I would hope.
The president's ratings seem to be 'holding' at just below 40%, and he seems adjusted to that -- even joking about it. But if his they fell through the floor, to say a farcical 10%, might he think about resignation? It's a thought.

Until congress finds its BALLS and actually takes that legal action, we have to think of alternatives. Why is it that almost to a fault, the retired Generals that served in Iraq are now coming out and condemning the war? Hmmm? Of course they can't say that when they're still on active duty if they want to collect their pension! I trust the Generals to have the honor to do the right thing!
