Chad arrests Sudan plane hijacker

News – From the article: "A lone gunman has been arrested after hijacking a Sudanese passenger jet and diverting it to N'Djamena, the capital of neighbouring Chad. The Air West Boeing 737 was flying 103 people from Sudan's capital, Khartoum, to El Fasher in the Darfur region. The hijacker was carrying a machine gun, and a Chadian government minister said he was seeking asylum in the UK."

Chad who? If they convict this person, will they hang him?

(think Florida 2000)

Don't mean to make light of what could be a tragic situation, but I need the tastless jokes to try and stay sane. You be the judge as to whether I have succeeded, or not.

"Sudan accuses Chad of backing rebel forces in the Darfur region, while Chad says Sudan aids Chadian rebel groups."

Oh, it gets better than that. The US has been gunning for Sudan for roughly 20 years. They have Islam and oil, and it is a thing we do...

Anyway, Ahmat Soubiane, Chad's ambassador to the US at the time, went public in 2004 stating that not only was Idriss Deby, president cum dictator of Chad, smuggling arms to the Darfur rebels, he was getting those arms from the US under the Pan-Sahel Initiative.

http://mailman.lbo-talk.org/2004/2004-July/014366.

And now we are calling for a "peacekeeping force," i.e, a multinational military force, to invade Sudan, TO INTERVENE IN THE CONFLICT WE FACILITATED!

Creepy, huh?

from what i understand, the darfur rebels are mainly Christians resisting the shariah government of sudans effort to enforce shariah law and convert them to islam. very horrible things have happened to them including enslavement, forced sexual slavery of women, torture and genocide. 70 to 80 thousand of them are still held in slavery to muslim masters.

bush has resisted invading them because they are allies providing information on terrorists for the war on terror.

if bush was really interested in what was right or wrong, he would intervene.

Most Darfur residents are Muslim according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darfur#Darfur_Conflic

This may or may not help to explain why so many nations are unwilling to do very much to halt the conflict. I also agree with you, Jasmine5000, any POTUS interested in doing right by humanity would try harder than GWB to end the infighting.

"...bush has resisted invading them..."

HUH!? More do-gooders jabbering on about the U.S Army invading another country. Maybe y'all could appeal to our Mexican friends to help out on this one. Then shout at Poland to take care of your next worryment. The U.S.A. is BUSY!

How can we blame the genocide in Sudan on Bush?

Well, he failed to get at the "root causes" of their nervousness. He presently needs to send armies of social workers to the area to apply "warm fuzzies".

nothing new to the world.hijacks have become one of the very easy way to practice crime.it's a shame for the authorities if they are so eager to allow such crimes with such ease.but its a pleasure to note that chad awoke for a good cause.the bush-muslim conflict can be sorted out later.

Hijacking a plane is just unoriginal at this point.
