Dec. 8, 2006, 9:49 a.m.Looks like 1937 Germany, as my great uncle was led away, never to be seen again.
These acts as in this artcle: the Oval Office can not piece together why most of civilized world hates them.

Dec. 8, 2006, 2:30 p.m.As an American, I'd just like to emphatically state that I do not support my government's treatment of these people, nor do I support spending 37 million taxpayer dollars to open this new facility, especially when 60% of my fellow Americans believe the people detained at Guantanamo Bay should have access to our legal system, something the Bush administration has refused to do.
Bush is fond of saying that "they hate us for our freedoms." I disagree; they hate us because we do things like this.
And no, Bush apologists, I don't hate America, or love terrorists. I believe in basic human rights, and believe that America must set an example for the rest of the world, if we expect to be taken seriously as a global leader. We can't demand respect at gunpoint; we must earn it.

Dec. 8, 2006, 3:28 p.m.Give them a trial, sentence them if need be, or release them, but don't hold them indefinitely without resolving the issue. It shames our nation to do what has been done in Guantanamo.
