Two days before he resigned as defense secretary, Donald H. Rumsfeld submitted a classified memo to the White House that acknowledged that the Bush administration's strategy in Iraq was not working and called for a major course correction.

Or was this the final straw for Bush? Was the Gates interview only a possiblity until receipt of the memo?

Uhm this is all water under the bridge. Whether Rumsfeld resigned or was fired, who cares, the bottom line is that he is gone.

What is next in the Rumsfeld chapter is what is important here. Is a trial for war crimes feasible? will the American Government turn him over to an International Court? will the American public support an International trial of a US citizen? Will the German Government bring accusations forth against Rumsfeld?

Regardless of however many memos are written and regardless of what the official spin on Irak is today, the fact is that the illegal war turned illegal invasion turned illegal occupation is exploting in the face of the US Government.

Are we now seeing a neo-con finally accepting that they got it wrong? Possibly!

Between this memo, and the Baker commission recommendations coming this week we may get a clear picture of just how stubborn Bush is.

Maybe, the memo is what got Rumsfeld fired. Bush doesn't like to admit failure, because God told him to attack Iraq. Where has Bush lately said anything about doing anything different other than staying in Iraq until the mission is accomplished?

The truth is, it is time to leave Iraqis a lone and let them be responsible to solve their problems. If our U.S. soldiers are treated like evils than why are their wasting their time and life in Iraq???. it is time for our Hon Pres. Bush to think about all these advices and make the best decision out of them... Iraqis are dying, our troops are dying.. of course no blame on our troops because they can't tell who are the enemies and the innocents..I will never stop praying to God (Allah) for our troops to come back. plz pray wit me.. Insha- Allah (GOD willing) our prayers will be answered.. GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS...

Acting awards go to the wrong people, they should go to the Politicians that lie and mislead the public, who follow these people like sheep. When are we going to wake up and use our minds instead of our hearts. Following just because of party affiliation is wrong.Just think if both parties got together for the betterment of the country??????????????????

The biggest weapon the criminals in government have is "we the people" fighting with eachother along party lines like the bloods and crips. They rob, murder and ruin OUR country while we pay attention to one another. What do we do about this?

Iraq will gain a measure of peace when the Shia kill all the Sunni.

The sooner we leave the sooner this can begin.

I expect that killing a few hundred thousand sunnis will cause the rest to head for Saudi Arabia.

Of course the Sauidis have threatened to intervene as has Iran and Syria.

We need to leave at once so the process can begin.

I guess my biggest amazement is that anyone still thinks Bush is competent or that he cares about anyone or anything other than his warped agenda, regardless of your political leanings. The true conservatives are getting away from this dangerous moron quickly now.

So was Rumsfeld wanting to change his "plan" or Bush's? I thought they were one and the same.

I started out (2000) being neutral on Bush, then I thought he wasen't real smart but not bad, then I thought he was smart and dangerous now I know he is a very dangerous fanatic and not very intelligent.

Still have not read the Oct 2002 US Congress declaration for the use of military force? Or, just don't want to admit you are wrong?

You can read the actual US Congress Declaration of War at:

                    http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2002/10/20

you will notice that the US Congress used their US Constitutional rights to declare both of these wars. You will notice that they get "frequent updates and reports" and that they vote each year to renew/continue this declaration of war without any changes/revisions.

Interesting that the DEMS still show NO desire to change this even though it applies to Iran & N. Korea as well as to Iraq!

Maybe it is time to "be truthful"!

If we leave right away, then it will create a void in that country. That void then can be filled up by Iran, and that will make it worse for not only our troops in the region but for our allies.

Someone once asked me if I had a plan as I was being critical of the current state of affairs. YES! I have a plan. Here it is. Now that we have destabilized Babble on we leave. Real soon. Get out fast.. say adios muchacos and LEAVE! Then sit back and watch thinks implode. Sy__A will try to get involved, I__n will get involved and S__Dia Arab__ will get involved. That will KEEP THEM BUSY fighting each OTHER!! We can HELP Lebanon and find OBL YEA!I know it is rough but look at the alternatives. Do you really think we should stay? You are paying for it you know.

Some times two birds can be had with one stone. But for the record I am not a neocons nor am I a liberal. I have always felt that babble on was a misplaced objective that would not play out as hoped nor intended. Suppose the babbleons get it together when we leave? Could happen. Does anyone know? I don't think so. Did we learn our lessons from meddling into other countries? Take Afganistan for example. Our previous cold war meddling created a bigger monster for us down the road. Look before you leap is sound advice in my book.
