Nov. 10, 2006, 8:39 a.m.Fascinating article and pictures! How amazing it must have felt to have actually been there, and a little bit scary, too. I guess, light though it is, pumice is still a rock, and could sink a small ship.

Nov. 10, 2006, 9:40 a.m.The area has been geologically active recently. The USGS reported a 7.9 earthquake in that area on May 3, 2006.
