According to the Post story, "The company has refused to pay a single ill Ground Zero responder." Five years later and they can't honor even 1 claim. As the old bromide sez, there is NO honor among thieves.

I agree, this should be on every major news network, everyday until there is a resolution to it.

I can't say i am surprised though, it is just more of the same.

Just like Bush reducing the benefits to veterans, yet more of the same here.

This is a thankless country, it's just about the power and greed.

The only people who are grateful are the poor or those who have nothing to give or offer these poor sick people.

Thanks for submitting this story ameliog!!

People need to know what is going on with this.

I wish more people read Netscape news, although some it is somewhat bent.

Makes me sick to think that the giving nature of the American peopel is being so misused, and that there is any reason these people are not getting the help they need. Sombody is making "Big Bucks" on this.

I was going to express my outrage until I saw the source--The NY PUSTicle is kind of a daily "Enquirer" "All the news that fits, we print" -- true or not. I would need to see a legitimate source before getting too excited.

Of course she's making a lot of money now, look at whose side she is on. Sell your soul and be rich! What a waste of tax dollars.

"It's amazing that Ms. LaSala gets $20,000 for health insurance while the 9/11 heroes she's fighting often have no health coverage at all," said Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y.).

Here's a story with some more details into the lawsuits and the WTC Captive Insurance Co.:

The lawyers on one side are blaming lawyers on the other side for all the problems. What's new?

Maybe we should cut her out of the problem, and let the lawyers battle it out - it'll save 370K, but I know that doesn't end the issue of "why those who are truely deserving of these funds are not receiving it" by the time this is all sorted out, there'll be no money left in the kitty to give to those who are really injured.

Remember, there were quite a number of people who received funds after 9/11 who were no where near the scene but received funds, until it was found out. Perhaps now they're being overly cautious, especially to those Firemen and Police whose lungs have been injured by dust (like coal miners - black lung). Surely the medical records reflect their injury is as a direct result of being there, at the WTC???? unless, of course, they're a 10 pack a day smoker, but then the medical records should be able to disern whether the lung problems came from smoking or that horrible dust,

I'll be interesting to know why that insurance company was selected to manage the funds and who decided it now that everything related with 9/11 is becoming muddy since there are tons of money in the middle. Saddly at the end the only ones losing are the rescuers

What a great way of showing our thanks to the men and women who cleared not only the World Trade Center rubble, but also the remains of the lost loved ones. They deserve better. Was any of our government leaders there helping with the recovery? Just there with a fog horn and hard hat.

I knew when I saw those people in the wreckage that there was going to be sever sickness and deaths just from exposure. This country needs to stand next to them just as much as the 3,000 killed in the attack. They are American Hero's that deserve much better.

What a shame that people who put it all on the line to help others are getting abused. This is more than a shame, it's a crime and we cannot let it stand.

Hmmm. How did you find me? I specifically requested an unlisted profile. While my attorneys look into this egregious matter, I will go play golf ...
