That Branson guy looks a LOT like a professional wrestler, doesn't he? Are we sure he isn't just hyping his next bout?

Positive energy?

Positive Spin from another bunch of Clintonistas.

Listen and watch the video.

Its an investment, not a donation.

It is a good thing, don;t get me wrong, but the applause should be for the effort, not the charity that it was originally spun to be.

over 6 billion pledged for the bennifit of humanity were generated at that meeting, R. Murdock sat down with Jane Fonda to help with humanitarian causes, cats ate with dogs, it was very inspiring...while at the UN leaders of the world played "i know what you are but what am i" peewee herman would have been proud. i give bill credit, his global works are amazing.

stop shouting, you're hurting my feelings.....not

Edinberg: I agree that its a good thing, and thought I said as much. Why, though, did it take a world wide media event and a Clinton ass-kissing contest for all these so-called philanthropists to dig deep and do good. Go check the guest list and doner list to see how many gloom and doom envisioned republicans also stepped up for this cause, without the celebrity and fanfare.

My point was not against Mr. Branson, but against those spin-doctors who played some of you like a rented fiddle into thinking this was about charity. Branson is proof that you can do good and also make a profit. This global initiative is as much about profit and opportunity as it is about good works. They can and do work well together. The gloom and doom is you and the other protectors of the liberal cause that can't complete a thought without complaining about republicans.

One thing he (Branson) better do now - watch his ass!!! He's been quite successful at everything he ever did - now he's after a new fuel system. Oil companies...standby for heavy rolls!!! But.........

Everybody knows the oil industry will not stand idly by and let someone take some of the profit out of their business - look what they did to the ethonal projects - boldly told them they would cut the price of gas so low they would put them out of business before they got started - and look at our gas prices...don't know how far those people will go, but at this time they rule the world and I can't see them giving up a bit of it - and it doesn't matter how small the venture is - it simply will NOT

be allowed!!! Should be interesting....

Watching this video reminds me that at one time in the not so distant past there was a positive vision for future. We used to have a balanced budget and peaceful world. I miss Clinton.

Who in their right mind would make a charitable contribution to a "charity" that is neot a charity and the contribution is NOT tax deductible?

When there are a zillion real charities that are?

The real issue- why ever make a charitable contribution with after tax money?

"why ever make a charitable contribution with after tax money?"

Maybe some people don't look at whether or not it affects their balance sheets before acting from their hearts, which none of us has the ability to discern. Agreed, if you can contribute and also use legitimate tax rules to reduce the tax burden then I'm for that. But the spirit behind the charitable donation should be the overriding factor, not whether we can keep a few more coins in our treasure chest.

Clinton is bright in always seeing the human nature of the rich, getting money from them is Clinton's gift. So many rich see better ways to do these things, simple minus the compromises of government bureaucracy. The rich only demand application of their investment to the problem, and not to all the other side issues that eat up government funding. They look at government as the poorest way to make anything work. Don't waste a dime of those efforts and see them multiply. Clinton's move to get the rich to put up money to fix the biggest problems, that bestow fame onto the giver, is one more look into human nature of the rich. Getting money from them is Clinton's gift.

I'm facinated at the cynicism in this world. I've watched Clinton all week promote his initiatives and admire his belief that we are generally good and want the world to succeed instead of what we have gotten from the present administration. Isolation, fear, scare tactics and unilateralism are not ways to bring hope, command respect and unite a very volatile world right now. It's no surprise that Clinton is far more loved internationally than Bush can ever dream of. But then I don't think Bush cares about that. His narrow view of the world has diminished us globally, heightened the level of distrust for America and made us vulnerable. I am counting the days untill he his history.

Wow, Branson says he's in 3 Billion right after Bush says three billion...

Well, at least Branson will make sure his three billion does something, if the past is an indication.

More than six years out and Clinton still doesn't have half the stink that the right said he did, and contrasted to Bush, you don't even catch a whiff of bad coming off Clinton.
