Former Gov. Edward King, a conservative Democrat who defeated then-Gov. Michael Dukakis in a primary challenge in 1978, then lost a rematch four years later, died Monday after a fall. He was 81.

    I remember Governor Ed King as a stauch defender for law and order during the 1980s, as a police officer, I recalled how he helped most Departments with Federal monies to improve the fight against lawlessness in the State of Massachusetts; in fact, Gov King was an honored guest at our [my] retirement ceremonies in Nov 1980...he was a fine gentleman...may God rest his soul.

      We share your loss with you. It is always hard when you loose a friend. Death is natural, we all know, but we do miss old friends.

      Imagine like me, you find your older friends going on before us. :-(
