Pulitzer Prize-winning author Norman Mailer will release his first work of fiction in 10 years in January. The new book, The Castle in the Forest, will be the first work of fiction by the 83-year-old writer since The Gospel According to the Son, which told the Gospel story from Christ's point of view.

    I read The Gospel According to the Son. Not Mailer's best work by any means. I hope this next book is an improvement. It seems most good writers either decline sharply after a time away from writing, or they produce some new level of genius.
