Aug. 9, 2006, 11:46 a.m.China, the evil empire.
our true enemy
The problems in the middle east will look like mesquito bites in the next few decades compared to the catastrophies China and there allies will cause

Aug. 9, 2006, 12:31 p.m.Well, first of all, the animals do belong to the Chinese nation not ours. And if they want to add to the growing list of extinct species, who are we to say they shouldn't. After all, it is their country.

Aug. 9, 2006, 12:53 p.m.This doesn't surprise me at all. Remember it was just last week in Shanghai the government ordered 55,000 dogs to be slaughtered because 3 people have died from rabies recently. The dogs were beaten to death with clubs.
It's also NOT illegal to club a dog or cat and skin it alive in China. They then use the pelt to make things like fur collars on coats, toy stuffed animals, etc. and export them to the U.S.. And of course, with all we import from China, you'd think we'd be able to put a little pressure on the Chinese government to inact some animal cruelty laws....unfortunately, no one wants to rock the boat.

Aug. 9, 2006, 12:55 p.m.What a pitiful response Mossback..... like many people you take the easy way out. The fact of the matter is many species are either become extinct or endangered as we speak. We are living in an era of mass extinction and we don't even care. I think Tim Robbins put it best, "At the present time, when most of us sit down to eat, we aren't very aware of how our food
choices affect the world. We don't realize that in every Big Mac there is a piece of the tropical
rain forests, and with every billion burgers sold another hundred species become extinct. We
don't realize that in the sizzle of our steaks there is suffering of animals, the mining of our
topsoil, the slashing of our forests, the harming of our economy, and the eroding of our health.
We don't hear in the sizzle the cry of the hungry millions who might otherwise be fed. We don't
see the toxic poisons accumulating in the food chains, poisoning our children and our earth for
generations to come."

Aug. 9, 2006, 12:56 p.m.The Chinese skin live dogs for their fur and don't give it a second thought. Why would killing endangered species bother them?

Maybe we shouldn't have helped liberate the Jews in WWII...after all,
it wasn't our country were they were being slaughtered and tortured.
-

vsioufi
Aug. 9, 2006, 1:04 p.m.It wouldn't bother China. I think they should wait a while, and get the endangered species to a moderate level before they want to butcher them. That's all.

Aug. 9, 2006, 1:15 p.m.Idiots... I don't understand it at all. What person with an ounce of compassion and brains would want to hunt an endangered species. Idiots, pure and simple.

Aug. 9, 2006, 1:18 p.m.I think we should hunt the Chinese.
Theres so many of them i dont think anyone will notice.
Infact I bet if you told someone with power that youll pay money to do it, theyd allow it. As long as they get there money theyll allow anything
-

tweetypie
Aug. 9, 2006, 1:21 p.m.Well said Marilyn. There are people who have made it their life's work to protect these beautiful creatures, and frankly have made significant progress over the years. And now, these money-hungry idiots are going to turn it all to crap just to make a buck. I think it's a disgrace.

Aug. 9, 2006, 1:21 p.m.While it is their country and their animals, it's everyone's Earth...and to kill even one member of the struggling species will take much needed diversification out of the gene pool. It's been proven that a protected species can make a recovery when hunting is prohibited. If it's strictly for survival it's justifiable IMO, but not for sport.

Aug. 9, 2006, 1:30 p.m.Estimates of the number of people killed on orders of Mao Tse Tung are between 30 and 200 miljon. Today thousands of opponents of the regime are killed and their organs are sold.
So if such a regime doen't have any respect for humans, than do you expect than that they have respect for the environment or animals or plants ?

Aug. 9, 2006, 1:39 p.m.You realize that the way we live allows the way everyone else in the world lives. The choices we make, our products, our trade, are what support nations of the world. Are you so sure you haven't been able to purchase an item only because it was made cheap enough by labor in a nation such as China? So maybe you should think about your own choices while you are pointing out the wrongs of others.
By the way I don't support the hunting. Of the Chinese either.

Aug. 9, 2006, 1:48 p.m.It's a sad situation, and don't get me wrong, i think it's horrible and that we should help, but i also feel like it isn't fair to want to help out the pandas and monkeys and then completely disregard China's oppression of places like Tibet and Taiwan. America is doing absolutley nothing to help the situations there, where thousands of peoples lives are on the line and their rights are constantly being stripped away from them. Why is this? Because America doesn't want to hurt their economy and as we know, China is a major importer of ours and is responsible for much of how successful our economy is. It kills me to see such brutality and inconsideration for life occuring, and now China wants to do the same to animals, let alone endangered species?! This is terrible, and something really needs to be done, but yet again, i feel like isn't right for America to step in to save the animals if they aren't going to save the people too. We should help both and then we can all go watch TMNT

Aug. 9, 2006, 1:52 p.m.Extinction is the natural order of things or we would still be running from t-rex. Whether man contributes of not does not make it a tragidy. It just is.

Aug. 9, 2006, 1:57 p.m.MMMMM, pass me the moo shoo tiger. Gives a whole new meaning to Panda Paws Ice Cream. Anyone wanna nibble on some other Wish they would sell Komodo Dragon steaks....fire up the bbq.
Seriously, how abhorrent that a nation or people could hunt animals, (or humans) to the point of extinction! It is totally illogical for one species to wipe out another.
