July 4, 2006, 7:30 p.m.Wouldn't it be great if we had a leader for a president that could actually speak intelligently--that was actually interested in resolving our country's problems rather than always promoting his (& his handlers) private agendas? We need someone like our great leaders of the past who faced & resolved difficult times by leading & inspiring the people with courage & honor. Instead, we have the Bush-cos who depend on fear of terrorism & secrecey to justify their self-serving "public service."

In contrast, the leaders of Canada and Germany, those who refused to join the USA have been forced out of office. And the new leaders of those countries are unabashedly pro-Bush.
Our service men and women love Bush. They think he is a great leader, as do many Americans. Face it, the anti-Bush league is habited by deranged paranoid narcissistic liars; probably the result of big city overcrowding.

A leader whom the American people believe is trustworthy and honest, especially when peoples' lives are at stake. Did someone say Bush is a great leader? Now that's plain ridiculous.

I would just like to have a legitimate government instead of leaders (Republicans) that go around steeling votes and keeping other from doing their civil duty.

Every day conservative Neanderthals promote fear, hate, and stereotypes. It makes me sick to believe that there are actually Christians that believe such things. But there is one thing Bush did get right, he knows how to use fear as tool to get reelected or steal the election.

July 5, 2006, 1:58 a.m.Leaders rotate in and out of office in democracies. This is part of the democratic process. Generally they move on to new things. A former president or prime minister is much in demand and can easily make many times his government salary speaking and visiting board meetings etc. All with little risk. Often in a parliamentary system a former PM get's to form a new govenrment in afew years anyway.
The tone of the article is that world leaders who are freinds with Bush are being forced to pay a professional and personal price. This seems more like wishful thinking or propaganda.
I think the exact opposite is the case- the French government and German government have lost a lot of juice in the last 4 years. They have sown they can be bought by any tinhorn dictator. Other countries like Poland have shown that they are greater nations on the world stage.

It scares me that people actually voted for Gore. Its time to have more choices of parts that the Rep's & Dem's. Ir's time to end the electorial vote and count each persons vote. It's time to take our country back shut down the borders and take care of the american people first and foremost.

Also, not all conservatives are bible thumpers. I am a University educated scientist who happens to be an athiest! My politics is not based upon faith, but muscled out from reason. The President has but one PRIMARY job and that is clearly defined by Section 2 of Article II of our great Constitution, and that is Commander in chief of the armed forces. Therefore, for the sake of our security, we need a junkyard dog in office. As for Pres. Bush's supposed lack of intelligence, suppose you attend Yale for four years and report back just how extraordinarily easy it was. Also, before everyone starts believing all of the drivil of the "Superior Europeans", remember this: while they like to remind us that they have a superior record of high school graduation than we do, europeans actually have to test into high school in the first place. The ones that make it in are usually college bound. All the rest that cannot test in, end up in trade schools or apprenticeships as waiters. When the dust clears, the success rates on those entrance exams are about what we have for high school graduation. Also remember that these are people that have treated despotic dictators like rock stars! Probably why they loved Saddam so much. After all, his Bath Party was started by Adolf Hitler back in the 1930's. And they love him for being something else all of the notorious dictators were, SOCIALISTS! As for the Canadians, they can go to hell (sorry for the religious reference, but no good athiest comment to substitute). I give no quarter to those that would cheer as those planes were hitting the Trade Center Buildings. Such behavior is enough to make civilized people vomit!

July 5, 2006, 6:57 a.m.I applaud the Canadian people for electing a different party (no matter which) to run the country. I have falimy in Canada and was getting tired of hearing them rant. I was wondering when Canadians would tire of the Liberal Party's corruption...'nuf said on that.
Every country goes through changes of support for whatever war is happening at that particular time. Support it, don't support it, depending on the mood of the people and how close the politicians are to their term expiring. That's a product of politics.
Look at the wars fought by the US in this century. Until this one, they were entered by Democrats, more losses per year than this one, more support in the US than this one.
If this had been a Democrat president in this war, your voices would have been singing a different song. You know it.
The "war on Terror" was predicted to be a long, drawn out process, and we were told it would not be easy. It is, and it certianly has not been (respectively).

NOVUS ORDO SECLORUM on the back of the U.S. Dollar means "NEW WORLD ORDER". A phrase used repeatedly by Bush SR when he was RULING (not governing) us. Oh yea, and I'm NOT a liberal, but very much an alarmed right wing conservative.

July 5, 2006, 8:32 a.m.I have to disagree with JJTopp on his statement on BushSR. Had it not been for Desert Shield/Storm, he would have probably been as ineffective a leader as Johnson. Neither had strong leadership qualities, and a war was the only thing they had going for them, though with different results for each.
In agreement, "New World Order" is spouted by both Dems and Reps to the point that I dont think about what it stands for. Looking at history, I come away with the idea that it was meant to stress international freedom and peace (my interpretation may not be others). Now days, it seems to mean "Let's govern ourselves like everyone else."
The best we can hope for is that our allies, whomever they may be, make up their minds, and decide if their support, or lack of, whichever is the case, is perminant. If not, this story is going to be forgotten in the future anyway so it means nothing. If so, maybe future politicians will learn something.

I think with all these political stories rising to the top, people seem to have a tendency to get really angry and split down the middle instead of agreeing.
Yes, Bush's allies are leaving office, but not necessarily because they're being forced out. Right now is a changing time politically, and personally, I wish people would spend less time polarizing America and more time coming together. The end rarely justifies the means, and if people would be realistic instead of militaristic, we'd all be a little better.
